Holidays to Cape Town have been highly recommended by one travel writer, who said that the city is now his favourite destination after spending just over a week there.

Mickey Mcmonagle, writing for the Scottish Sunday Mail, said that there is nowhere else in the world like it and that it is also incredibly cheap.

"The novelty of working out how little your sumptuous meal with buckets of top quality wine costs does not wear off fast," he remarked.

Mr Mcmonagle particularly recommended a trip to Boulder Beach for a swim with the penguins and a cable-car ride up Table Mountain as must-do activities while in the South African city, which he said he intends to visit again in the near future.

Indeed, this year could be the perfect time to take holidays to Cape Town, since the city is to be one of the hosts of next year's Fifa World Cup tournament and may get very busy.Meet the editors...
