Now might be the best time of year to book a flight to Cape Town for a holiday, according to one publication.

The African winter can hold significant benefits for visitors, the Metro reports.

There are fewer tourists in Cape Town at this time of year, meaning travellers will be able to enjoy the sights and sounds of the city at their own pace.

"At least if you go at this time of year, we Brits are in with a fighting chance as the Saffas at last put away their flip-flops for a few months and slip a sweater over their designer T-shirts," the publication states.

Among the attractions to be found on a holiday to Cape Town are great hotels and restaurants, as well as tours and a fantastic market housed in the Old Biscuit Mill.

Why not take a trip around the mountain to the vineyards of Constantia? Or visit the famous sites of Robben Island, Table Mountain, Cape Point and the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront?
