Hug an elephant on a half term holiday in South AfricaFamilies looking for a holiday in South Africa with a difference this summer may wish to consider a trip to an elephant reserve, a holiday company has suggested.

Children are being encouraged to "hug an elephant at half term" on a holiday in South Africa's Hoedspruit Kampama Game Reserve, Camp Jabulani.

From October to March the reserve will be opening up its Presidential Villa which is looked after by a private chef and can accommodate a family of four adults and two children.

There is a programme of special activities on offer for children, including an introduction to wildlife named Team Tusker.

Kids can learn survival basics, bush cooking, animal tracking and orienteering with radios.

The reserve also offers morning and late afternoon safaris on elephant back, with the opportunity to see South Africa's big five.

Hoedspruit is located on the edge of the Kruger National Park in South Africa and the area offers travellers the opportunity to try out hiking, abseiling, Microlight flying, rafting and mountain biking. Meet the editors...
