Those on a cheap holiday in South Africa in time for the world cup should be extra vigilant about the validity of any football tickets they buy, it has been stated.

Be wary of fake football tickets on holiday in South Africa

Those who have their cheap flights to South Africa booked in time for the World Cup tournament next year have been urged to remain wary of ticket sellers on the streets.

Although many people will be able to buy tickets for the various games to take place in 2010, those who are left empty-handed should think twice before buying from unauthorised vendors on their cheap holidays in South Africa, according to the Association of British Travel Agents.

Sean Tipton, a spokesperson for the group, said: "We're saying that when you book, you should do so with a company authorised by Fifa."

He added that, in the past, the organisation has witnessed instances of people booking trips for major sporting events only to find that their tickets "did not materialise".

The ticket-buying process for the World Cup began on February 20th 2009 and will end on 11th July 2010. It has been split into five parts, giving fans the chance to buy them on a first-come-first-served basis.
