South Africa is a "diverse" destinationTravellers planning to book holidays to South Africa may be interested in one journalist's experiences in the country.

Writing in the Daily Telegraph, Jonathan Wynne-Jones describes his two-week holiday that saw him and his wife travel to a host of its attractions.

They began their trip in a spa retreat hidden in the forests just outside of Johannesburg, which Mr Wynne-Jones called "blissful", before moving on to sample some of South Africa's most famous activities.

A safari in the Kruger National Park was the next stop for the couple, where they went in search of the big five - lions, elephants, buffalo, leopards and rhinos.

Mr Wynne-Jones claimed that spotting a leopard up a tree towards the end of their day was a particular highlight for him.

Other regions visited during the trip include the Drakensburg mountains - which he described as "magnificent" - and Cape Town.

Following the conclusion of his holiday, Mr Wynne-Jones remarked: "I've gained a few pounds, a taste for South African wine and a love of this beautifully diverse country."

South Africa's tourism website describes the country as "the adventure capital of the world", where activities on offer include safari, kite surfing and sky diving.
