Kruger National Park top spot for safariThe Kruger National Park is one of the best locations in the world to go on safari, according to a national travel journalist.

Matt Warren compared his South African trip to holidays he has taken in Sri Lanka and Brazil and decided that Kruger is the best destination he has visited in terms of seeing wildlife.

Writing in the Daily Mail, he described how, on his first morning, he witnessed a leopard chasing a hare: "As morning floorshows go, this one has left us speechless."

Other animals encountered during his week-long stay at the Sabi Sands Private Game Reserve, situated on the western side of the national park, included a herd of elephants, lions and a white rhino and her youngster.

Mr Warren claimed that he was particularly impressed by how approachable many of the animals are. He puts this down to the strict control over the number of tourists that is operated within the Sabi Sands reserve.

Kruger National Park has been open for more than a century, having been established in 1898.
