ABTA Travel Buddy 'could help World Cup fans'

A service launched by ABTA to help travellers around the globe could be of particular use to those taking flights to South Africa this summer, the organisation has claimed.

ABTA Travel Buddy could help World Cup fans

ABTA - The Travel Association has advised tourists booking flights to South Africa this summer that its Travel Buddy service could be of use.

In addition to providing tourists with useful "know before you go" information via email ahead of a big trip, it also includes a text message service to notify holidaymakers of any essential updates they may need.

This could include advice or guidance from the Foreign Commonwealth Office or simply reminders about must-have items, such as travel insurance.

Nikki White, ABTA head of destination services, commented: "It's free of charge and an ideal way to pass on essential up-to-date travel information."

Travel agents around the country should be able to access the service and offer it to any customers.

With the World Cup kicking off on June 11th, approximately 50,000 English football fans are expected to make the trip to South Africa.

Destination tips and travel information within the country could be especially useful to those following their national team because England will be playing each of their three group-stage matches in different cities around South Africa.
