Cape Town offers a breath of fresh airPeople who are heading to South Africa on flights to Cape Town have a lot to look forward to, it has been stated.

Writing for the Daily Telegraph, John Wilcox described the city as "a breath of fresh air to tired Europeans".

According to the travel writer, Cape Town boasts bright colours and is reminiscent of Berlin in the 60s and 70s, which he commented is "exotic and on the edge".

Tourists arriving in the city for the first time should make sure that they take the cable car to the top of Table Mountain, he asserted.

Mr Wilcox also suggested some of his favourite bars and restaurants, including the Mount Nelson Hotel for a martini or the Camps Bay to Blues restaurant for dinner.

Another tip for those exploring the area is to buy some local food and wine and head into the hills at the foot of Table Mountain for a picnic.

In June, thousands of football fans from around the world will descend on South Africa for the start of the World Cup, which kicks off in Johannesburg on June 11th.
