Cape Town home to a 'spectacular' drive

Anyone booking flights to Cape Town should make sure that they hire a car and explore on of the world's most spectacular drives, one journalist has stated.

The road between Betty's Bay and Gordon's Bay in the Western Cape region of South Africa is a route that all visitors to the country should endeavour to take, it has been claimed.

Writing for the Yorkshire Evening Post, Michael O'Flaherty described the road as "one of the most spectacular in the world", adding that it is also "one of the least discovered".

He explained that Route 44, as it is known, follows the coastline, with the road climbing the cliff side and offering breathtaking views.

"Look out to sea, the romantic Indian Ocean and the near white pristine beaches below," Mr O'Flaherty stated.

For anyone who wants to escape the hubbub of the World Cup, which will kickoff in South Africa on June 11th, he recommended staying in Betty's Bay.

Located approximately one and half hours from Cape Town, Mr O'Flaherty noted that it is a quiet spot that offers some respite from the big city.
