South African tourism has a bright future

More Brits could soon be looking for cheap flights to South Africa, as one tourism expert has said that the future looks bright for the nation's holiday industry.
Country manager for the UK for South Africa Tourism Lebohang Mokhesi said that the future of the holiday sector in the country could have been helped by the nation's hosting of the 2010 World Cup this summer.

She said the event "was an unparalleled success on three fronts: infrastructure developments, the world's perception of South Africa and of course, national pride".

While many people may still be taking cheap flights to Johannesburg or other well-known South African spots such as Durban or Cape Town, she said that improvements made to both road and rail links could help "encourage people to travel out from these hubs".

According to a survey of hotel managers in South Africa by Horwath HTL, 60 per cent believe their total hotel revenue will increase post-World Cup.
