South Africa bids to host African Nations CupFootball fans could be catching flights to South Africa in 2015 if the country manages to secure the African Nations Cup.

Kirsten Nematandani, the president of the South Africa Football Association, has confirmed that the country has expressed an interest in hosting the event following the success of the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

Speaking to the Sowetan, the president explained that it was a natural decision for South Africa to host the 2015 African Nations Cup.

Mr Nematandani added: "There will be no question of infrastructure because it is here, accommodation is here. There will be no question of transport because it is here, world-class stadiums are here too."

South Africa last hosted the cup in 1996 and if successful, would become the only African country to host the tournament twice.

Egypt won this year's African Nations Cup, which was hosted by Angola.
