Families opt to combine holiday plansNew research shows that many families are looking to share holidays with friends and other family members in order to reduce costs.

Post Office Travel Insurance claims that 62 per cent of families already do or would consider sharing their vacation with another family. In addition, a third of people involved in the survey also explained that they would allow family friends to take their children on holiday without them.

The main reasons for sharing holidays were cited as a way to split costs, ensure children are entertained and spend time with loved ones.

Rachel Croft, head of Post Office Travel Insurance, said: "With budgets being stretched and many of us time poor, taking a group holiday can be a good way to save money and spend time with loved ones."

Meanwhile, South Africa Airlines has introduced a range of offers on its flights to South Africa from various destinations. Its forthcoming 72-hour sale could help reduce the cost of fares for families looking to visit the country in the near future.
