Cheryl Cole and Derek Hough took flights to South Africa over the New Year to enjoy a break away from the UK winter.

Cheryl Cole and Derek Hough took flights to South Africa over the New Year to enjoy a break away from the UK winter.

The X Factor presenter and US dancer also appeared to confirm they are officially a couple after sharing a kiss at a New Year's Eve party close to Cape Town.

An unnamed source explained to the Daily Mirror:"Cheryl and Derek are together and don’t care who knows it.

"She wanted to spend New Year's Eve with Derek because she sees her future with him. 2010 was the worst year of Cheryl's life. But now she is looking forward to happier times with Derek."

The party was hosted by property developer Preston Haskell at his home in Fresnaye – close to South Africa's Table Mountain.

It is believed that the couple are staying at the luxury Camps Bay resort – which is also a favourite destination for Prince Harry.

Camps Bay Resort has a total of 48 rooms, studios and apartments and has an exclusive private beach area.
