South Africa becoming increasingly popularFollowing on from a very successful 2010, the number of Brits booking flights to South Africa is set to rise again, according to a travel expert.

Travel Association ABTA represents over 6,000 travel agencies and 850 tour operators, and a spokeswoman for the organisation said that there has been a particular uplift in interest for countries in southern Africa.

"The biggest growth is probably in Africa. There are lots of different countries there from Malawi to Namibia and lots of southern African countries - South Africa has seen a huge growth in recent years," she said.

Other booming countries in the region include the neighbouring safari destination of Botswana, the representative added.

Some of the highlights that can be packed into a South African holiday include a trip up to the summit of Table Mountain for views over Cape Town or a visit to a vineyard in the surrounding countryside.
