Travellers' interested in Afrikaner history will have an opportunity to check out a forceful exhibition in June.

Ik ben een Afrikaner (I am an African), which is showing at the Artspace Gallery, is a group show by South African artists Francki Burger, Hannelie Coetzee, Johann du Plessis, Pauline Gutter, Clare Menck, John Murray Mea Ox, Henk Serfontein, Cobus van Bosch and Reney Warrington.

People travelling on cheap flights to Johannesburg in June will have a unique opportunity to be part of this experience.

Hendrik Biebouw was the first person to identify himself as an Afrikaner. It is believed that he first uttered the immortal line "Ik ben een Afrikaner" in 1707.

Afrikaners are South Africans of European descent. They currently make up three million of the 49 million people living in South Africa.

They have their own unique language, which is derived from Dutch.

A growing number of new Afrikaner artists, poets and critics have been increasingly coming to terms with the Afrikaner identity and what it means today.
