South Africa still seeing benefits of Fifa World CupPeople on flights to South Africa could find that there are still a lot of positive repercussions being felt following the end of the Fifa World Cup.

Offering his opinions on the behalf of Cape Town Tourism, Calvyn Gilfellan, chief executive officer of Cape Town Routes Unlimited, said that hosting sports events is a brilliant way for countries to showcase what they have to offer all holidaymakers.

He explained that while it may seem obvious, the international football tournament had a big impact on changing how people viewed the country.

"The 2010 Fifa World Cup has created positive perceptions of South Africa as a host of world-class events, extraordinary tourism offerings, friendly people, a safe environment and top-class infrastructure," Mr Gilfellan added.

Travellers on flights to South Africa looking for something more cultural were recently advised by the Johannesburg tourism office that attractions relating to Nelson Mandela are very popular.
