David Hasselhoff said he repeatedly asked his girlfriend to marry him while on holiday in Cape Town.

People taking flights to Cape Town with the intention of proposing to their partner could be hoping for more luck than David Hasseloff has had.

The Britain's Got Talent judge has been on holiday in the South African city with his partner Hayley Roberts and had asked her several times to marry him, but each time she declined.

Speaking to Zimbabwe news site Zimeye.com, he said that he proposed when they were in a cage underwater watching sharks and again when they were in front of a herd of running elephants.

"So I will again propose, as I do bungee jumping or the swing," Hasselhoff said.

The couple have now moved on to Zimbabwe where they are spending some time at Victoria Falls.

Travellers on flights to Cape Town could also be planning to visit the city for far less romantic reasons, as it has been honoured for its conference facilities.
