Cape Town home to incredible street muralsPeople taking cheap flights to Cape Town with an interest in local artists could decide to seek out some of its amazing street murals.

Artist Ricky-Lee Gordon, who goes by the name of Freddy Sam, explained to CNN.com that he hopes his projects will help to bring about social change.

His latest project is to create a series of images on the side of buildings in the Woodstock region of the city with a range of colourful pictures depicting positive examples.

Mr Gordon said many people are happy to have the paintings on their properties as they bring some colour and life to the area.

"Artists like to be surrounded by real culture and there's a real culture here. There's a mix of people and it makes for an interesting life on the street," he added.

Travellers on cheap flights to Cape Town could see some areas of the city they would otherwise miss on a holiday by taking part in the annual Big Walk event.
