Travellers want eco-friendly tripsTravellers taking flights to South Africa and other locations could be among those who are concerned about the impact their trip will have on the environment.

According to a new study carried out by Abta - the travel association showed that 33 per cent of people are concerned about whether or not their holiday would be eco-friendly.

The 2011 Abta Consumer Trends Survey showed 38 per cent of women are now becoming more conscious about the effect their trips have.

It was suggested that some companies should do more to invest in the amount of sustainable options they offer.

"These findings back up research from the same survey that more and more people are expecting holiday companies to be both socially and environmentally responsible," explained Soren Stober, business manager for the Travelife Sustainability System.

People taking flights to South Africa to see its natural wonders could help to have Table Mountain named as one of the New Seven Wonders of Nature in a new poll.
