New jumbos for Thailand passengersThai Airways has announced it is to deploy six state-of-the-art superjumbos to use on its flights to Bangkok from London.

The Airbus A380s are said to have been purchased for around $1.9 billion (£950 million) and will begin service in early 2009.

However, the airline has stated it will continue to operate two daily flights to Bangkok once they come into service.

It is thought that the aircraft will offer better seat width and reclining angles, in addition to power outlets for computers, although no official specifications have been released.

There will also be fewer passengers in business class in order to provide the larger seats.

Thai Airways is the national carrier of the Kingdom of Thailand and was established in 1960.

It offers domestic, regional and intercontinental flights to key destinations worldwide.

In June, the airline announced it was to implement electronic ticketing for all its flights in accordance with International Air Transport Association (IATA) regulations.
