Britons are planning their holidays more thoroughlyMore people in the UK are using the internet to research their holiday destination before they jet off, it has been found.

A survey carried out by the Post Office found that 56 per cent of respondents said they will check out the weather at their resort before they go, while 38 per cent said they plan to read reviews by other travellers.

With the survey also discovering that 27 per cent of people will spend less on their holiday this year, Stewart Fox-Mills, head of broadband at the Post Office, said this thorough method of investigation could be a savvy way of cutting costs.

"With budgets for luxuries squeezed, UK residents seem to be making sure they enjoy every minute of their well-earned break during the credit crunch by taking a virtual rehearsal and exploring their destination online before they go," he said.

People looking for a far-flung destination that won't break the bank could consider booking cheap flights to Thailand and going on a conservation holiday, staying with other eco-conscious tourists to cut costs.Meet the editors...
