Avoid card fraud on holiday

British holidaymakers should not relax so much abroad that they are complacent with their credit and debit cards, it has been claimed.

British holidaymakers should not relax so much abroad that they are complacent with their credit and debit cards, it has been claimed.

According to Kerry D'Souza, spokesperson for credit card fraud firm CPP, people could be at risk if they allow their card to be taken from them, for example in locations which do not have chip and pin.

"People can still sometimes be a bit complacent about how they use their cards and what they do with their cards.

"You're on holiday, you're relaxed and you're not necessarily thinking about what's going out of your bank account," she said.

Recent research from CPP found that instances of overseas card crime rose by 77 per cent between 2006 and 2007.

According to Thailand Wonders, Diners Club, MasterCard and Visa will be accepted in ATMs all over the country and cards can be cancelled if stolen.

However, it warns people on holidays to Thailand, people should not lose sight of their card when making a purchase but should keep it with them at all times.
