Last minute may not guarantee best dealsLeaving holiday bookings until the last minute may not guarantee that holidaymakers get the best deals, it has been claimed.

This is according to Which? Holiday magazine, which tracked the prices of three holidays over the course of a year.

It found that the best prices were available in August and September for the following holiday season and that those willing to book now for next summer could save up to £1,000.

Which? Holiday editor Lorna Cowan said: "For families wanting to get away next summer with specific destinations in mind, we recommend booking in the next month or so to avoid disappointment when it comes to availability and cost."

Last month, advisory service Corsavoo.com suggested that anyone looking for a wallet-friendly break could consider holidays to Thailand.

It said the country has excellent shops and some wonderful sights to see, without being too expensive to visit.

Accommodation can also cost as little as £2.50 a night.
