Thai holidays work their magicA recent holiday to Thailand was recently enjoyed by a journalist who visited an elephant rehabilitation centre in Hang Dong, among other things.

Louise Roddon, writing for the Times, said she took her 12-year-old son Felix along and both members of the family thoroughly enjoyed the trip.

"Hang Dong, Chiang Mai's rural backwater, is a true Joseph's coat of visual brilliance," she enthused.

Ms Roddon added that her son said the ride on the former circus elephant after helping to look after it contributed to one of the best days of his life.

Another activity Felix enjoyed was a lesson in Muay Thai kickboxing, a traditional martial art in the country, which was given by a professional in the sport.

In fact, the only thing the pair said they were not looking forward to was the return to London.

Anyone wishing to go on other eco-holidays could also book holidays to Thailand, where they can participate in community tourism projects in Phuket, CNN reports. Meet the editors...
