Price more important than carbon impact for holidaysPeople heading abroad, including those going on holidays to Thailand, would rather get a bargain than worry about how much their break will affect the environment, it has been claimed.

Speaking at a conference hosted by the Association of British Travel Agents to discuss the future of tourism, Co-operative managing director Mike Greenacre said that this is especially true amid the current economic climate.

"The number one priority is value for money. Customers do not walk through the door and say do you do carbon offsetting and if not I won't book a holiday," Travel Weekly quoted him as saying.

Anyone keen on getting a travel bargain may wish to consider holidays to Thailand, where accommodation can be found for as little as £2.50 a night in some resorts, especially in hostels, according to advisory service Corsavoo.com.

It said the country has excellent shops and some wonderful sights to see, without being too expensive to visit.
