Insider tips on cheap flights unveiledWith many people having to tighten their belts financially at the moment, an airline executive has offered some insider tips on how to get cheap airfares.

Datuk Bernard Francis, senior general manager of Malaysia Airlines, told the Star that there are a number of ways in which travellers can get better value for money, but it is just a case of knowing how to do it.

Firstly, he said that holidaymakers should check their dates to make sure they do not clash with school or public holidays in their destinations, which could see prices increase.

Secondly, Mr Francis said that Wednesdays are often the best days to get cheap flights, because airlines often have smaller passenger loads.

Finally, he warned would-be passengers not to be too choosy with their flight times, since flexibility could result in bigger savings.

Malaysia Airlines is the flag carrier for the country and offers flights to Bangkok and Phuket, among other destinations.Meet the editors...
