Qantas, Etihad to resume flights to BangkokSome services to Bangkok are to resume after two airlines announced that they will reintroduce flights.

Most travel to the Thai airports had been cancelled after political disturbances and fears of increased violence around the major tourist resorts caused carriers to suspend their services.

However, both Qantas and Etihad have now said they will reintroduce flights to Bangkok.

Qantas said its flights will begin again this Saturday (December 6th), after negotiations with Thai authorities proved successful.

John Borghetti, executive general manager of the carrier, said: "As soon as it was announced that Suvarnabhumi would be re-opened and following our own operational assessment of the airport, we began the necessary planning to resume services."

Meanwhile, Etihad's first flight back into the country will leave from Abu Dhabi on Monday December 8th.

It is also running additional services for people who wish to return home from Thailand.
