A very unusual record is broken in PattayaPeople on their holidays in Pattaya were no doubt left stunned yesterday (December 22nd), following a world record attempt by a local legend.

The self-proclaimed Scorpion Queen, aka Kanchana Kaetkaew, held a scorpion in her mouth for 2.03 minutes, taking the crown for the longest length of time that anyone has ever done so - although the previous holder was her as well.

Ms Kaetkaew was given the arachnid by her husband Bunthawee Siengwong, who is known as the Centipede King.

She was wearing a dress covered in embroideries of the creatures for the attempt, which took place in a shopping mall in Pattaya.

The eccentric now hopes to break a new record by sitting in a glass compound full of 5,000 scorpions for 33 days.

Ms Kaetkaew and her husband met at a snake farm on the island of Koh Samui and their wedding was sponsored by the Thai branch of Ripley's Believe It or Not.
