Book now to get more choice on holidaysA spokesperson for one of the UK's lading travel organisations has advised people looking for travel deals - for example on holidays to Thailand - to book earlier rather than later.

Frances Tuke of the Association of British Travel Agents (Abta) said that the current economic conditions mean than the traditional method of leaving booking until the last minute may not be an option.

"There will be some attractive deals in the new year that will probably be worth taking up but there will [be] less, if any, late deals on the market," she warned.

This was put down to poor exchange rates against sterling in many countries.

However, with previous Abta research showing that more than one in ten 11 to 18-year-olds don't care where they go on holiday as long as it is sunny, people could try a long-haul destination such as Thailand or South Africa.

These countries were recently singled out by the Post Office as being particularly good value.
