Brits are looking forward to holidays with sunticipationWhile we all know that having a holiday in the summer to look forward to is nice, it could also be making British workers more productive, it has been claimed.

Frances Tuke, spokesperson for the Association of British Travel Agents, coined the phrase 'sunticipation' to describe this and said that given British people work the longest hours in Europe, it is no surprise that we put so much importance on our holidays.

"People need holidays to take a break from the pressure but also spend valuable time with their loved ones and families," she added.

The expert also said that as such, British people are more likely to see their holidays as more important than new cars or new furniture for their house.

This opinion is backed up by figures from a poll carried out by Visit London and VisitBritain, which found that 74 per cent of people aim to cut back on the amount of food they buy so that they have more money to spend while on holiday.
