Long haul holidays are getting more affordableMore people are now able to take long haul breaks - potentially including holidays to Thailand - as prices for flights come down.

Sean Tipton of the Association of British Travel Agents made these comments, pointing out that people are more likely to try adventurous destinations where they may not have been before if it does not cost them as much to get there.

"People like to try out new destinations and increasingly that means long haul destinations out of Europe and further afield," he said.

This seems to have been reflected in people's travel choices last year - a recent poll published by Kuoni found that Thailand was one of the most popular destinations for holidaymakers in 2008.

This could have been due to its reputation as an ideal place for relaxing and enjoying the sandy beaches, as well as the fact that it could be better value for money than destinations inside the eurozone.
