Businesses are taking more flights to AsiaBusinesses are sending their employees to Asia - potentially including on flights to Thailand - in order to source cheaper products.

Rather than letting the credit crunch discourage travel altogether, company owners are getting savvier with their budgets and sending employees further afield in order to get the most from their money, John Prentice, sales director at Diversity Travel, said.

"A lot of charities, wildlife parks, zoos, chemical companies and even clothing companies who are travelling within Asia to buy materials," he pointed out.

Mr Prentice added that anyone looking for such flights should seek specialist advice from travel companies in order to get the best prices and find out the easiest route.

According to HRG, many firms are now sending workers on shorter trips in order to maximise efficiency and cut down on costs, with the average stay during 2008 lasting 1.5 nights, compared to 1.9 nights in 2007.
