Thai government waives tourist visa fee

People going on holidays to Thailand, particularly extended stays, may be pleased to know that the country's government has waived the fee for tourist visa applications from March 5th until June 4th.

People going on holidays to Thailand, particularly extended stays, may be pleased to know that the country's government has waived the fee for tourist visa applications from March 5th until June 4th.

Currently, visas are automatically given to tourists who are staying up to 30 days, while anyone staying longer must apply for a visa before they go.

The new measures could mean a saving of time and money for people going on holidays to Thailand.

Phornsiri Manoharn, a governor for the Tourism Authority of Thailand, said: "Thailand is and continues to be a wonderful diverse tourism destination. We welcome all visitors from around the world."

She added that some 14 million people are expected to visit the south Asian country this year.

Mark Hodson of the Times recently recommended the Thai island of Ko Pha-Ngan to anyone wanting a peaceful holiday in a beautiful location, particularly the north of the island.
