Thailand to lure tourists with signature cocktail

Tourism officials in Thailand are hoping that a new signature cocktail will attract more visitors to the country's shores.

According to USA Today, a new drink called Siam Sunrays has been created and will be served in some of Thailand's top hotels and resorts.

Travellers planning holidays to Thailand may be able to try the cocktail, which contains vodka and coconut liqueur, as well as some traditional Thai flavours such as lemongrass, ginger, lime and a dash of chilli.

Dubbed "Thailand in a glass", it is hoped that the liquid invention will come to represent the country in the same way that the Mojito represents Cuba.

"Successful signature drinks are one way to fast-track holiday destinations onto the world tourism map," said Thailand's tourism authority in a joint statement with the Thai Hotels Association.

Meanwhile, the Thai government has waived the fee for tourist visa applications from March 5th until June 4th, saving holidaymakers heading to the country both time and money.Meet the editors...
