Book holidays with reputable companies, Brits warnedThose lucky enough to be booking or going abroad - including on holidays to Thailand - in the coming weeks should ensure that their money is safe by taking extra measure to protect it themselves.

This is the advice of Steve Barnes, spokesperson for the Association of British Travel Agents (Abta), who firstly suggested that travellers should book their breaks using a credit card to ensure protection.

Additionally, only companies that are regulated by Abta or Atol should be used, since this will guarantee that the company is reputable and that the customer will have its support if there are any problems.

"Of course, the big thing is, if the holiday looks too good to be true because it's too cheap, then there probably is a very good reason for that," Mr Barnes concluded.

According to a poll carried out by greenbee.com, 34 per cent of Britons were most concerned about organisations going bust when it came to booking holidays.
