Contrary to popular belief, Thailand is a great place to take babies for an excellent family holiday.

Justine Ragany, writing for the Daily Mail, said that friends had expressed surprise when she and her husband spoke of plans to take 15-month-old Zoli to the south Asian country, but that they couldn't have found it more accommodating.

She said that Thai people are incredibly friendly where young children are concerned and that young families are bound to be the centre of attention.

"You will be waved at from buses, from mopeds and by pedestrians … and, most wonderfully, everyone will smile at you," said Ms Ragany.

The Ragany family headed to Bangkok first, followed by Hua Hin and said they enjoyed both parts of the trip immensely.

Mark Hodson of the Times recently recommended Thailand's Ko Pha-Ngan as having plenty to offer all kind of travellers, especially those who want a peaceful break in a pretty location.
