Generation Y 'will travel more in coming years'

Those aged between 11 and 25 - so-called Generation Y - look set to make up the biggest group of people going on trips abroad in coming years as they enter the workforce, it has been claimed.

Those aged between 11 and 25 - so-called Generation Y - look set to make up the biggest group of people going on trips abroad in coming years as they enter the workforce, it has been claimed.

This is according to Avinash Lalwani of American Express, speaking at the recent Passenger Terminal Expo, who said that this particular demographic is technologically savvy and well connected to the world around them.

"This generation is going to come in big time in two years and they will be travelling a lot more," he opined.

A recent survey by consultancy firm Talentsmoothie, cited by the Guardian, suggested that Generation Y has a different outlook on life to its predecessors.

Instead of putting salary and status top of the agenda, people in this age group were more likely to value self-fulfilment, good holidays and the opportunity to take long stretches of time off for charity work or travel.Meet the editors...
