New research carried out by Eurostar has revealed that 36 per cent of British people would rather forego eating out for a whole year than not go on holiday.

New research carried out by Eurostar has revealed that 36 per cent of British people would rather forego eating out for a whole year than not go on holiday.

The poll discovered that Brits also see a holiday as more important than buying new clothes and spending cash on entertainment, with 29 per cent saying they would avoid buying new fashion items for 12 months if it meant that they could still have their fortnight in the sun.

In addition, it was found that despite the credit crunch, three per cent more people intend to go on holiday this year than in 2008.

Chief executive of Eurostar Richard Brown said: "It is clear from this report that we value our holidays now more than ever, as we prioritise the need to escape and recharge the batteries."
