Booking online 'could cost less'

Holidaymakers should consider booking online for their last-minute holiday deals.

Booking online could cost lessThose looking to jet off on a last-minute break to escape the gloomy British summer are being urged to consider booking online.

Whether looking to book a holiday in Thailand or flights to India, travellers will be able to access a wider range of options and they could also cost less if booked over the web, one industry spokesperson has said.

Egor Bondarev, marketing director at OrangeSmile, said that the advantages of online travel booking included "cheaper rates".

He added: "There is no need to get up from the sofa and go to a travel agency [and] there is a much wider choice than at a travel agency."

According to reports, there has been a surge in the number of last-minute bookings, prompted by people's disappointment in the British weather.

Booking levels have risen by as much as 40 per cent in July, according to members of the Association of British Travel Agents. Meet the editors...
