Travellers 'rarely stick to a budget'

Taking a means of accessing money while on holiday could be a good idea, it has been advised.

The majority of British travellers are unable to stick to a budget when taking a holiday, new research has revealed.

"People tend to underestimate how much they are going to spend whilst they are on holiday," explained Sean Tipton, spokesperson at Abta - the travel association.

He said that this was because people tend to be more relaxed while on their travels and like to treat the children to an ice cream.

Mr Tipton added that holidaymakers also tend to eat out more than they would do back in the UK.

He advised people to ensure that on top of their foreign currency and travellers cheques, they should take a credit card, or some other means of accessing money while abroad.

From August 15th to 16th, travellers on holiday in Thailand may be in need of their spending money at the Bangkok International Fashion and Leather Fair.
