Holidays to Thailand 'can offer luxury'

People booking flights to Thailand may be surprised by the levels of luxury on offer on their arrival, one expert has claimed.

Holidays to Thailand can offer luxuryAnyone jetting off for holidays to Thailand may not necessarily associate the destination with luxury but they should reconsider their opinion, a travel expert has claimed.

Joanna Cooke, UK and Ireland marketing manager for the Tourism Authority of Thailand, explained that the service levels in the country and the increasing number of boutique hotels add to its luxury appeal.

"With Thailand, the Thai hospitality and the service that you get there automatically adds an extra star where you are staying," she noted.

Ms Cooke pointed out that, as travellers' perceptions about the destination had changed, so too had some of its accommodation offerings.

She explained that there are more "boutique, funky and designer properties" available now, especially in Bangkok.

Research released earlier this week by the Pacific Asia Travel Association revealed that the number of international visitors to the region increased by three per cent year-on-year last November.
