Flights to Thailand popular with long-haul travellersBritish tourists from all walks of life are increasingly booking flights to Thailand when jetting off on a long-haul break, new research has revealed.

A study carried out by Kuoni found that Thailand is the second most popular long-haul destination for 2010, with the Maldives taking the top spot.

Frances Tuke, spokesperson for the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA), explained that tourists are becoming more adventurous with their holiday choices.

"We want personal fulfilment, we are not just looking to flock and drop onto the beaches - we want a lot more than that," she stated.

The report published by Kuoni showed that Thailand is a particular favourite among solo travellers and is also among the top five choices for newly-weds and families.

Ms Tuke noted that many people pick their holiday destination with the aim of getting away and escaping from work pressures, making exotic locations such as the south-east Asian nation a good option.
