Try something different on a trip to ThailandAnyone who has booked flights to Thailand to go in search of the exotic and some excitement may want to consider rock climbing during their visit, one travel journalist has suggested.

Writing for the Southeast Asia website, Ean Johnston explained that the country is a great place for people interested in climbing to visit.

There are more than 700 documented climbing spots in Thailand, while people who want to try their hand at bouldering will find "countless" opportunities, he stated.

Mr Johnston recommended starting on one of the indoor walls in Bangkok before heading to Tonsai Beach in Krabi for "some of the world's most spectacular sports climbs".

He noted that the limestone cliffs around this part of the coastline provide "incredible" climbing locations, with many stretching above clear blue waters.

If you would rather be in or under the water than above it, then Krabi can also provide some excellent locations for both kayaking and scuba diving.

Divers in particular will be able to explore the reefs which surround many of the small islands located just off of Krabi's shores.
