Tips offered for holidays to ThailandAnyone who has booked cheap flights to Thailand may be looking for some inspiration for where to go and what to see when they arrive in the country.

One travel journalist who recently returned from a break in the south-east Asian nation has given her top tips of things to do in Thailand.

Writing for the Irish Independent, Caitriona Murphy recommended visiting the Chinatown part of Bangkok, as well taking a tour around the capital in a tuk-tuk.

Tourists should make sure that they take a trip to Wat Pho, she advised, as well as stopping off to admire the Grand Palace.

"Stroll past Wat Phra Kaew, a temple that houses the revered 14th century emerald Buddha," she noted.

Anyone who wants to travel a bit further afield should consider making the journey north to Chiang Mai, according to Ms Murphy.

Here visitors can enjoy the Night Bazaar on the Ping river, or visit one of the elephant sanctuaries.

Earlier this month, fashion designer Marc Jacobs told Travel+Leisure magazine that riding elephants in Chiang Mai with his fiance was "a dream trip".
