Cameron plans Thai holidayPrime minister David Cameron has announced he plans to spend Christmas in Thailand.

The Conservative leader is paying for the trip using his personal funds and will not be conducting any official duties when staying in the region.

Mr Cameron, his wife Samantha and their children will be taking flights to Thailand towards the end of the year but specific dates and travel arrangements are unlikely to be released due to security concerns.

The Daily Mail reports an unnamed Thai source said: "I believe he is travelling to Bangkok at the end of this year around Christmas time and he's going to spend some time in Bangkok and some time at one of our beaches."

The prime minister has taken a number of British holidays in recent years and has travelled to France but this is the first time he has opted to take a break in Thailand.

It takes around 15 hours to fly direct to Thailand from the UK.
