A new resort is set to open in 2012 on the Yamu peninsula of Phuket in Thailand.

New resort planned for PhuketA new resort is set to open in 2012 on the Yamu peninsula of Phuket in Thailand.

The property will be developed and managed by the Singapore-based COMO Hotels and Resorts and will be in located in Phang Nga Bay.

It will be the ninth property for COMO and will provide a total of 129 rooms, each offering views of the Yamu peninsula and Andaman Sea. The resort is well-placed for those taking flights to Thailand, as it is around 20 minutes from Phuket International Airport.

Facilities for guests will include a 100-metre swimming pool, a yoga studio, a private beach and two restaurants.

"The addition of this Phuket property is aligned with COMO Hotels and Resorts' expansion plans within the region," said Harry Apostolides, vice-president of business development, COMO Hotels and Resorts.

He added: "Phuket is one of the top tourist destinations in the region and we have focused on its east coast - an area of outstanding natural beauty and great biodiversity."

COMO already operates the Metropolitan Bangkok hotel which is a 40-minute drive from Suvarnabhumi international airport.
