Thailand hosts elephant polo event

Thailand is playing host to an elephant polo event this week.

People taking cheap flights to Thailand could be interested in heading to a see an interesting event in the shape of elephant polo.

The 2011 King's Cup Elephant Polo tournament began on September 5th 2011 in the town of Hua Hin with a special showcase of seasoned players and parades featuring the pachyderms.

Following on from the excitement, the games kicked off today (September 6th), with teams put forward by the likes of British Airways and Mercedes Benz competing to take home the coveted trophy on September 12th.

The event is held at the royal seaside resort in the Asian country as a way of raising funds for the nation's good causes, with one of the groups set to see the benefit of this year's tournament a charity which helps children with autism.

Those on cheap flights to Thailand who like fine foods can also indulge themselves, as the World Gourmet Festival is also currently being held in Bangkok.
