Travellers head to Bangkok in rickshawPeople on flights to Bangkok could meet some other travellers in the city who took an original method of transport to complete their journey.

A race is being held between 66 people to travel to the Thai capital from Jakarta in Indonesia, with the twist being they are making the journey in a rickshaw.

The competitors have come from 12 countries around the world to take part in the contest, which was created by the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.

Each of the motorised vehicles is capable of just half a horse power and the trip will see them travel across 3,000 km.

Setting out on Sunday October 16th, it is expected that the teams will arrive in Bangkok on October 30th.

There is a wealth of interesting events held regularly to attract people on flights to Bangkok, with the Rubiks Speedcubing event recently taking place there.
