Thailand ranks highly in Conde Nast awards

Locations in Thailand performed well in an awards ceremony chosen by travellers themselves.

Thailand ranks highly in Conde Nast awardsMore people could be planning to book flights to Thailand after the country and its destinations performed well in an awards voted for by travellers themselves.

The Conde Nast Traveller Readers Travel Awards 2011 have been announced and saw the Asian nation performing well in several of the categories.

Ranking in fourth place for in the category for best country, Phuket also helped to push the country up the rankings.

In the islands category, it was named in tenth place, with the publication reserving some special praise for it.

"If you are looking for luxury-on-a-budget and a friendly welcome, head for Phuket (you scored it highly for value for money and for people/hospitality)," the report stated.

The number of people on flights to Thailand has been consistently high for some time, with Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi Airport reporting in September that 47 million people had passed through the terminal in the past 12 months.
