Las Vegas, Nevada travel guide

  • Shortly after gambling was legalized in Nevada in 1931 and construction of the first hotel/casinos had begun, who could have known that it was the beginning of the phenomenon known simply as Vegas a glamorous, fantasy oasis in the middle of the desert? There is much more to Las Vegas than gambling, eating, and shopping. It is a vibrant, fast growing and progressive city that attracts some of the largest conventions and business meetings in the world. Each year, over 50,000 people relocate permanently to this city thanks to the abundance of jobs, low taxes, healthy climate and beautiful surroundings. With 320 days of sunshine annually, Las Vegas can also boast of some of the best golfing facilities in the country. Beyond the famous five-mile Las Vegas Strip, there are also the historic and exciting Fremont Street, home of the original casinos that started the Vegas craze back in the 1930s. Millions of tourists come to see the Freemont Experience an incredible and breathtaking light and sound show presented on a domed structure covering several blocks in the downtown area. Las Vegas is a growing city: every year bigger, more spectacular hotels and casinos are being designed and built to amaze and entertain people from all over the world.

  • It is impossible to see and do everything that Las Vegas has to offer in one trip, which is what keeps visitors returning over and over again. The choices can be overwhelming. Good planning is the key to any great vacation, but that is especially the case here.

  • Next to gambling, the most engaging activity in Las Vegas is dining your heart out. Every type and style of food known to man can be found here, from European all the way to Asia and to America. From five-star restaurants to take-outs, there is no shortage of dining experiences. Prepare to be amazed by the restaurants in Las Vegas!

    Delmonico Steakhouse

Delmonico is an all-American Steakhouse with a Creole influence (New Orleans Style). Impeccable service, impressive presentation, and elegant surroundings come together in this upscale restaurant. Beef, chicken, pork, and seafood are on the menu, but possibly the best part of dinner is dessert. Look to the pecan pie with vanilla bean ice cream and caramel sauce. Reservations are highly recommended because of the popularity of Delmonico.

    Carnival World & Seafood Buffet

Travel the world at the largest buffet in Las Vegas. Choices are divided into “stations," such as Dim Sum, Italian, Mexican, Mongolian grill, seafood, sushi and Japanese, Asian, and American. But as the name suggests, the main part of the buffet exists out of amazing seafood. If you are seafood-lover, you have entered your personal food-heaven! The centerpiece is the dessert station with 70 varieties of pies, cakes, and pastries.

    JJ's Boulangerie

Las Vegas has always been fond of Paris, hence the Eiffel Tower in the center of the city. JJ's produces French baguettes for all the restaurants at Paris Las Vegas. You can order freshly-made sandwiches, salads, soups and, of course, straight-from-the-oven pastries and baked goods. But their food is not only inspired from beautiful France, you can also get a Danish, pizza, gelato and a British scone. People watch how the breads are made. The sight and smell will leave your mouthwatering.

    Top of the World Restaurant

Dinner at sunset from high atop the Stratosphere Hotel, 844 feet in the air to be precise, is a must-do, once-in-a-lifetime experience. The restaurant actually rotates 360 degrees every hour providing unmatched views of Las Vegas. A good menu choice is the three-course Chateaubriand for Two, including soup or salad, center-cut certified Angus beef tenderloin with vegetables, and the Chocolate Stratosphere for dessert.

    Martorano's

From The Paris Las Vegas Hotel comes Martorano's. The popular chain is under the helm of creator Steve Martorano, who brings his South Philly cooking to Las Vegas. A nice surprise, the food is less expensive, but has the same quality as other restaurants of the same level. It serves Italian food with a list of wines and drinks. Just to help you with making a decision, the veal parmigiana with pasta is highly recommended! Live music performs later at night.

    Estiatorio Milos

One of North America's finest Greek restaurants makes its way to Las Vegas in a big and delicious way. Estiatorio Milos serves seafood from the raw bar and cooked in the subtlest ways. Dine on authentic, top notch Greek cuisine while overlooking the Las Vegas skyline.

  • Vegas is literally the City that Never Sleeps. It is said that the Las Vegas Strip is a continuous bar. It is not unusual to see people strolling the Strip, especially at night, carrying an alcoholic beverage. Every hotel/casino offers superb entertainment, floor shows, bars and nightclubs. Live entertainment is everywhere.

    Mandarin Bar

One of the best hotel bars in town - and in Las Vegas, that's saying a lot - invites you for an evening drink with a view from 23rd floor, just make sure to occupy the window seats. The Mandarin Bar crafts original cocktails with an Asian twists which cannot be beaten by any other drink. This bar is both luxurious and laid-back, which is a combination rarely found, so visit the Mandarin Bar when you have the chance!

    The Chandelier

Hundreds of glimmering crystals will surround you in this exquisite cocktail lounge bar as you savor a pre-party drink - a different selection is offered on each of the Chandelier's 3 levels. The significant bar makes the impressive Cosmopolitan even more exquisite. Try the significant drinks of The Chandelier: The Forbidden Fruit, The Infinite Playlist, or Fire-Breathing Dragon.

    VooDoo Rooftop Nightclub

The Voodoo Rooftop Nightclub is located on the 51st Floor of the Rio and offers open-air rooftop dancing and live music. It is described as crowded, romantic, and trendy. Themed drinks include the Witch Doctor and VooDoo Doll. Prepare for a night filled with EDM, hip hop and 80s pop music. Take a sip of your Witch Doctor drink, which exists out of seven shots so be prepared, and have an amazing night!
